2017 Impact Report

Dear WHAM Friends and Supporters,

You wouldn't know it if you saw them, but more than 22% of the families in the area we serve experience hunger on a regular basis.

Food insecurity is what the experts call it, and it is higher here than in households in the rest of Harris County (16.6%) and even in the state of Texas (15.7%).  After Hurricane Harvey, you can only imagine how much more precarious these families’ situations are. Many new households now are also experiencing poverty conditions due to the added expenses arising from losing their homes to the floods.  To give you an idea, this past year we helped over 40,000 individuals  - compared to 2016, we have seen an 18% increase in families and the homeless coming to us for help.  WHAM is doing all it can to help these struggling families, but we need your support.

This end of year, as you plan to make a meaningful charitable contribution to causes that are dear to your heart, will you consider including West Houston Assistance Ministries and the families we serve as recipients of your generosity?  Please find our Impact Report below detailing how we have helped this past year.  It is unquestionable that the need for our assistance is immense.  We need your support to keep up with the increased demand.

Thank you for considering this invitation to support this valuable ministry, and may God bless you even more abundantly this coming year.

In Christ’s Service,

Mark Brown
Chief Executive Officer
