Financial  ​Assistance

It is part of our mission to make sure that no one leaves here hungry so we have food available from our Food Pantry. 

If you have a need for emergency clothing we can provide you a voucher for use in our Second Blessing Resale store. 
For those in need, we provide financial aid to help with the cost of rent, mortgage, or utilities.  

Persons seeking assistance must make an appointment. Please call us at 713-977-9942 weekdays to schedule your next day appointment. The number of appointments we can schedule per day is limited.

Healthcare  ​Information

Seasonal Programs

Local agencies offer information services to clients, including health care information, benefits enrollment, and mental health care assistance. 
Seasonal programs include a ​Back-to- School Program, which distributes school supplies to students Pre-K through 12th grade and Easter Baskets donated from a coalition church. Our Holiday Meals Program provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meal ingredients and grocery gift cards to those in need. We also have a Holiday Program that provides toys and gift cards for clients’ school-age children, and Adopt-A-Family, which selects thirty families each year to be adopted by businesses and families from the community.

Qualifications for these services vary based on services received, but required documents include the following:

Photo ID for all adults in the household.
Non-photo ID for children
Proof of income
Proof of residency

Those who adopt a family select gifts for all family members using a list of needed items and sizes that the adopted family has provided to WHAM. There is no contact or exchange of information between those who adopt the families and the recipients. Gifts are delivered to WHAM, who then distributes them to the families. Families to be adopted are selected by Client Services staff.

​Community members/businesses wishing to adopt a client family for Christmas may register to have a family assigned to them in November. Gifts must be delivered to WHAM by December 8 for distribution to families December 11 - December 19.
