Over the past nine years, I, as the Executive Director and CEO of West Houston Assistance Ministries, Inc. (WHAM), have seen this community come together to help others who find themselves in crisis situations. Whether through providing financial assistance to supplement rent and utilities, food for children, seniors and families, or job search resources, WHAM relies on your support to keep families together and our community strong.
This past year the needs for those in our community have increased, and so has the cost of providing for these needs. In light of this steady increase, we are asking you to join WHAM’s inaugural annual giving campaign, the “Door of Hope” Society. Your one-time or continuing contribution will establish you as a founding member of this society.
As WHAM celebrates our 30th anniversary year, it is important that we consider not only what we are currently doing but also what we need to do in the future. This year we will be celebrating our past achievements, providing for the current needs of our clients, and looking into the future to ensure that WHAM can continue to promote a self-sustaining community. The formation of the “Door of Hope” Society is one step towards ensuring WHAM’s future ability to help our neighbors in need.
Please consider becoming part of a pivotal year at WHAM by making a substantial contribution to WHAM’s “Door of Hope” Society. Below is a contribution card for your consideration. Please contact Diana Seifert, Director of Development, via email for further information regarding our giving society and other opportunities.
Thank you for your consideration and for helping so many people within our community.
Sincerely,
Shirley A. Downing
